On Thursday the 29th of October, 2009, the Rotary Club of Melton Valley in conjunction with the Rotary Club of
Bacchus Marsh held a Tibetan Village Project Auction Night, with proceeds from the night going directly to the
Tibetan Village Project. Funds raised from the night is in the vicinity of $5,400.
It was a great turn out with approximately 110 Rotarians and guests attending. There was good fellowship and
feverish bidding on both the Silent Auction Items and the Items being auctioned. Auctioneers for the night
were Graham and Luke, with Don Cullen providing a description of each item as it was being auctioned, and what a wonderful job they did
keeping the bidding going higher and higher.
Authentic Tibetan Products were auctioned on the night including handmade jewellery, bags, wall hangings, prayer wheels, flags and may other authentic items. It was lovely to see successful bidders leaving the night with their favorite items! We hope everyone was pleased with their purchases on the night and when they look at their Tibetan items reflect on the night and the people their purchases will assist.
Vicky Teschke spoke of her Conscious Journey to Tibet and had some wonderful photos of her journey to share.
It was inspiring to see her passion for the people of Tibet!
Don Cullen also spoke about Tibet and what projects the funds raised from the night would assist. One of the projects the funds raised will assist is a new medical clinic for a Tibetan doctor who currently works for little or no money. The medical clinic will focus on Women’s health issues which Don has identified as a major shortfall in the region.
The night of course would not have been the success it was without the support of all attending (and the
many people behind the scenes) and on behalf of the Rotary Club of Melton Valley and the Rotary Club of
Bacchus Marsh we all say a huge Thank You.
Since 1985, ending polio has been Rotary’s top philanthropic goal. Since then, polio cases have been slashed by 99 percent worldwide. While most of the world is polio-free, this vaccine-preventable disease still threatens children in parts of Africa and South Asia.
